Nordea Bank Awarded for Best Mortgages

During the 15th gala organized by the “Miesięcznik Finansowy BANK” monthly, a ranking list of “50 Biggest Banks in Poland” was published, where financial institutions were rated by independent market analysts. Nordea Bank won the first place in the category of “Property Financing”.

The awards were presented during an official gala at Warsaw Hilton on 22 June 2010. Statuettes were handed by Krzysztof Pietraszkiewicz, chairman of the Polish Banks Association and Dr Jan Grobicki, editor-in-chief of „Miesięcznik Finansowy BANK”. On behalf of Nordea Bank, the award for the first place in the „Property Financing” category, was received by Marcin Mendrykowski, Mazowiecki Region Manager.

Apart from Nordea Bank, the winners or statuettes in the respective categories were: “Universal Banks” - Alior Bank SA, “Best Retail Bank” and “Efficient Operator” - Eurobank SA, “Commercial Bank” – DZ Bank SA. “Internet Bank” - Bank Handlowy SA, “Car Financing Bank”– Fiat Bank SA. This year’s Grand Prix was awarded to PKO Bank Polski SA as the banking institution of the strongest capital base.

According to its authors, the ranking list has for years been the most objective indicator of the business efficiency of the banks operating in Poland. It also reflects the market position of the biggest banking institutions.

The financial circles regard the ranking list of ”Miesięcznik Finansowy Bank” highly. The banks are rated on such factors as profitability, the capital base, the number of staff and the volumes of lending and deposits. Also important are the capital adequacy ratio and the loan loss ratio.
